How To Treat Possible Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome is becoming far more common. This is at least having the effect of forcing certain elements of the medical profession, and the public at large, to begin taking it seriously.

It has been a long fight for sufferers from extreme fatigue related disorders to even have them accepted as valid in some quarters. Now that at least this is happening, the medical profession can begin the necessary research into ways of alleviating the symptoms, and possibly even finding a cure for the disease.

So, how do you know whether or not you have a chronic fatigue condition? It is not easy to tell at the start, especially if there are other possible reasons for you feeling tired. This is the first step you need to take, an honest analysis of your own lifestyle. If you have been working too hard, not getting enough sleep, or otherwise taking more resources from your body than you have been putting back, then the result is inevitable. You will feel weak and drained until you are able to give your body sufficient rest.

Whether you have a chronic condition of just a short term blip, you will benefit from following some basic healthy guidelines. Getting enough hours in bed is the most important of these, but it is the quality as well as the quantity of sleep which makes the difference. Try to put yourself in a calm and relaxed state before you go to bed. If you have a garden area, going outside and carrying out some deep breathing exercises is a perfect way of achieving this without putting stress on the body.

If you make sure that you get enough sleep and fresh air, and also that your diet contains the right nutrients, the symptoms should ease very quickly. If they do not, then it is time to assume that there may be a more serious underlying condition and seek medical help. There are many conditions which can cause a feeling of fatigue, other than chronic fatigue syndrome. Having a thorough medical examination will allow you to eliminate life threatening conditions such as cancer and heart disease.

There is still no definitive treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome. If this is what you have, the best you can do is follow good life principles. Get enough quality sleep, eat well, get plenty of outdoor exercise if you are able, but nothing to strenuous. Cut out any stimulant which places a strain on the body, such as tobacco, alcohol, caffeine and refined sugar. Once you have done this, you can add vitamin and mineral supplements to make sure that the body has proper nutrition. Following these simple guidelines will ensure that you get as much relief as possible from your chronic fatigue.
